But all of those things take time to take root and make a major difference.

But in today’s episode, I’m going to be sharing with you a super simple three-second mindset shift that will completely change how you approach your goals. Total game-changer!

You know that your mindset matters when it comes to achieving your goals.

There are affirmations, practices, meditations, and all sorts of things you can do to get your mindset right. But all of those things take time to take root and make a major difference.

In today’s episode I’m going to share with you a super-simple 3-second mindset shift that will completely change how you approach your goals.

If you’ve spent any time in the online entrepreneurial or personal growth space, you are probably groaning and grumbling at the idea of mindset. It’s become a bit of a trendy buzz word over the past several years and therefore lost some of its meaning.

Mindset is simply the way you think about things, your established attitudes about something.

But your mindset isn’t just about what is in your head.

Your mindset isn’t just about your thoughts. The right mindset can affect your actions & results too. You’ve heard the Henry Ford quote “whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.”

Because as humans, we don’t want to waste time & energy. It’s a biological thing. So if you believe that you can’t do something or you don’t know how to do something, your brain is like okay, you’re right. You can’t or you don’t know. It won’t waste energy or time on solving a problem that it has already decided is unsolvable.

So when it comes to your goals or the habits & strategies that it takes to achieve those goals, if you say things like “I can’t do this.” or “I don’t know how to do this.” that is a dead-end. It’s a statement. But here’s the secret 3-second mindset shift, are you ready for it?

Instead of saying “I can’t” or “I don’t know”, say “how can I?” All of a sudden you’ve opened a world of possibility and problem solving and given your brain something to do rather than just agree with you. Think about it. How can I is such an invitation. An invitation for innovation and creative thinking and it just sounds sexier TBH.

If you don’t feel like you are ready to make that big of a jump from “I can’t” or “I don’t know” to “how can I?”, just try adding one word to the end of it then: “…yet.” I can’t yet. I don’t know yet.

Because it signals to your brain that you aren’t done yet, you haven’t given up and neither should it.

It’s pretty obvious that I feel quite strongly about this from my enthusiasm, but I feel so strongly about it that I can’t and I don’t know aren’t allowed in my household. If my daughter or husband lead with that, I tell them to flip the phrase and figure it out. I am there to help them figure out the how, but they have to open the door to that possibility first.

Action Step:

I always like to end each episode with an action step that you can take right now to help you move forward and begin to implement immediately. Here is your action step for this episode: Every time you catch yourself saying I can’t or I don’t for the next 5 days, catch yourself and correct it to either adding “…yet” to the end, or rephrasing it as a “how can I?” Then DM me how this has changed your life.
